Scotland has long been associated with glassmaking. At Scottish borders Art Glass the combination of the traditional with the modern maintains the studio at the forefront of glass design in Europe. Peter Holmes has been involved in glass making since 1963 and has an international reputation amongst discerning collectors for his unique style of art glass. While forging ahead with new designs and techniques he is also now passing on his vast experience and skills to a new generation of glass artists at his Glassmaking Centre of Excellence in Hawick. His son, Andrew, has created the glass mushrooms shown below and Peter himself the beautiful art glass table lamp.

This is the last mushroom we have in this series. Each one has been handmade and all are different. The red cap of this one has deliberately been given a 'ragged edge' which lightens gradually towards the clear glass rim. The rim blends into a margin of clear glass around the edge to match the clear stem.
