Petra Baskets

Materials are gathered locally from Wessex hedgerows, wild places and gardens.

Plants used include ash, clematis, common rushes, flax, hazel, honesty, honeysuckle, ivy, jasmine, passion flower, periwinkle, privet, rhododendron, russian vine, strawberry runners, tamarisk and thyme -
wool, ribbons and beads are sometimes added for decoration.

Basket making workshops available - materials provided for 10, 15 or 20 people for 3 types of basket - including large flat- based ones for mushroom collecting - nests, pots, spoon holders, gypsy baskets and bowls.

As illustrated approx. 20 inches and 15 inches long
but a great variety of sizes and designs possible.

Take climbing plants and pruned branches from your own garden. Make a handled basket in a morning or weave the rudiments in two hours to take home and continue in your own time with an instruction reminder.
